I have been a member of the Parish Council since September 2010 and was Chairman for four years. I am pleased to be serving the interests of the local community.
I led the Parish Council initiative which resulted in the leasing of land for the allotments in Part Lane and the creation of an agreement with the Swallowfield Parish Allotment Association for its devolved management. I also led the redevelopment of Fieldfare, which was arguably the most ambitious project ever undertaken by the Council, and the revamp of the car park and external environs of the Parish Hall. More recently I have been working with the Halls Working Group to develop a programme of improvements to the Parish Hall.
Prior to becoming Chairman, I was Chair of the Planning Committee for a number of years and share the concerns of local people about the number of houses coming to the area and the impact that will have on our lives and the beautiful countryside in our Parish.
I have lived in Swallowfield since 1992 and elsewhere in Wokingham Borough since 1978. Our two children went to Farley Hill School and my wife was Treasurer of the Farley Hill School Association for several years.
In my working career, I was a Management Consultant focussing on IT strategy and business change, predominantly in the Public Sector. Locally, I undertook work for the Atomic Weapons Establishment and the national police training organisation, of which Bramshill Police Training College (a Grade 1 listed building) was a part prior to its closure and sale to a private company.
Located in Berkshire and part of the borough of Wokingham, the parish of Swallowfield consists of the villages and settlements of Swallowfield, Riseley, Farley Hill and Stanford End. Swallowfield Parish Council has nine councillors.
