Parks and Recreation Grounds

Swallowfield Parish Council owns and is responsible for the recreation grounds in Swallowfield and Riseley.

We continue to invest in the upkeep and maintenance of both sites, to ensure that they continue to remain valued and well-used local amenities. Recent additions and improvements have included several new items of play equipment and a resurfaced play park in Riseley, a new train in the play park in Swallowfield and two new picnic benches at each site, installed to mark HM the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

We do not own the King George V Playing Field in Farley Hill, for which Wokingham Borough Council is responsible.

King George V Playing Field, Farley Hill

The King George V Playing Fields were given to the nation in 1936 for the "use and enjoyment of the people". There are over 500 across Britain, each held in trust and protected to ensure that they continue to benefit future generations.

Ownership and management of the King George V Playing Field in Farley Hill was passed to Berkshire County Council in 1965 and subsequently to Wokingham Borough Council (WBC).

The land was previously leased to Farley Hill School but that lease has now been terminated following the relocation of the School. However, Farley Hill School remains the Managing Trustee. We continue to work with WBC to understand the longer-term plans for the site.
