Fieldfayre Update – 2

2nd July 2017

Last Week

  • The following work was undertaken:
  • stripping out the interiors of the two flats;
  • clearance of vegetation around the site;
  • partial stripping of the roofing to the single storey rear buildings under the supervision of the ecologist in case of bats;
  •  rear entrance to shop secured by construction of a concrete wall to enable full demolition of the rear buildings and the front door to the shop modified to facilitate access and improve security.

This Week

  • The rear single storey buildings will be completely demolished. The Council has been assured that the demolition team will do what they can to minimise dust spreading to neighbouring properties by damping down as they go but it would be prudent to assume that some dust is unavoidable. There will inevitably be a certain amount of noise from machinery and falling masonry.
  • The rubble and waste material will be removed from the site so expect many lorry movements to take place.
  • The new party wall upstairs separating off the left half of the main building to form a self-contained housing unit will be constructed as part of the preparations for its temporary occupation by the shop although the temporary relocation is a couple of months away.

  • The shop and PO remain open as usual but please take care parking to allow for lorries approaching the side access. Please don’t be put off from using the shop – the Council and Mr Kumar have gone to a great deal of effort to maintain continuity throughout the building works.
